The TMI Boyz the BillBoard Singles Sales Chart at #5

Posted at

Houston's TMI Boyz (Sayeed, Dudella, Huskey) have entered the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart this week at #5 according to Billboard thanks to a successful round of Houston FYE in-stores set up by Atlanta-based company Face2Face and Rap Coalition's Wendy Day. Swervin, the follow-up single to their successful Mannie Fresh helmed I'm Fresh ft. Mannie Fresh, whose accompanying video made it all the way to BET's 106 & Park, was produced by in-house production team Dirtbag.

Hailing from Galveston, TX and Houston's notorious South West, the group has made their presence felt at major events nationwide, most recently the 2nd Annual Ozone Awards in Miami where many top industry panelists made mention of the grind they have seen the guys put in. In fact, in the most recent issue of Ozone magazine, TMI Boyz are hailed by Florida 's Bigga Rankin as the next artists to blow.

TMI Boyz may be independent but they are no strangers to what it takes to win. Only 2 short years into their career they caught the attention of industry veterans like Chris Crawford, Owner of TMI Entertainment, Mario Henchmen and most recently, Wendy Day of Rap Coalition, who is helming the release of their upcoming album Grindin' For A Purpose (Fall 2007.) The group has in fact already performed before thousands of people with internationally-known artists like T.I., Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, Slim Thug and Juvenile.

While the industry rants that Houston music is dead (tell that to Chamillionaire), TMI Boyz are letting the world know that they are the Next Outta Tex and September sees them doing in-stores all over their home state as well as cities like Oklahoma City, Memphis and Birmingham. Naysayers be damned, TMI Boyz are Grindin for a Purpose with no signs of stopping any time soon. Doubt if ya want to - they welcome the challenge!!!!!!!!!

Master P to star in "Post-Katrina" Documentary

Posted at

On the second anniversary of the hurricane that resulted in the worst U.S. natural disaster ever …"slow, insufficient and misguided federal policy is keeping tens of thousands of displaced American families from realizing their human right to return and rebuild their lives and communities." (Jeffrey Buchanan, Blueprint for Gulf Renewal, August/September 2007)*. Two years later, as the struggle to collect promised aid, return home, rebuild and recover looms perilously close to failure, a story being told by some 600 New Orleans evacuees may not have had a voice without Taproot Productions' documentary Desert Bayou.

Featuring Master P, whose parents were among the displaced and Utah-transferred evacuees, Desert Bayou centers on the experiences of two families in this group who found themselves not only forced from the only homes they knew, but literally sequestered on planes, plopped into a desert on an abandoned military base 45 minutes outside of Salt Lake City, and forced to maneuver in a chess game ruled by members of a predominantly white, racially ignorant and nearly exclusively Mormon enclave.

Faced with a continued bureaucratic indifference that began following the disaster, the personal stories that emerge from the evacuees add a very human element to a story that was unfathomable by most of the nation and now nearly incomprehensible by those who hear their stories, review news clips of both the Utah Governor, Mayor of Salt Lake City and, comically, a few of the less enlightened citizens of Salt Lake City. The victims' conflicts and personal growth is portrayed from fear and isolation to discovery and solution.

"DESERT BAYOU gives voice to those victims who suffered the aftermath of a tragedy that evolved on a daily basis," says director Alex LeMay (The Bulls of Suburbia). "In the midst of this process, there are chronicles of plenty of good deeds, good people and community; religious and social figures whose good will eventually prevails."

LeMay's recently completed documentary, Desert Bayou, will open October 5, 2007 in both New York and New Orleans, followed by a platformed release in several U.S. cities, and is distributed by Cinema Libre Studio.

Listen To MixTape Show #85 (Audio)

Exclusive Audio
From time to time, we like to feature mixtape podcasts from my main man Dex over at MixTapeShow.Net. He is one of the few cats I know that does a weekly, quality hip hop mixshow. This next selection is episode 85 of his podcast. It's all about making friends and spreading prosperity. Unlike ProHipHop, (see their haterism) which dropped a negative line on our grind, we are gonna keep it positive and moving upward though. Like my father always said, "When people talk about u and criticize what you're doing, that probably means you're doing something right. It's when they don't say anything when there is a problem" Words to live by. Enjoy the show! Oh, I encourage to check out Dex over at MixTapeShow.net...it's a really good site! Note:
