D12's Bizarre to release 2nd solo album

Posted at

KOCH Records announces the release of Bizarre’s new album, Blue Cheese ‘n’ Coney Island, on October 9th, 2007. As one of Detroit’s most indelible underground rap entities and as a part of Eminem’s multi-platinum supergroup D-12, Bizarre has carved out a unique niche in the hip hop world. Combining hardcore lyrics with over the top humor and delivery, Bizarre has become one of the most unique hip-hop artists in the game today.

Bizarre says, “I named it ‘Blue Cheese ‘n’ Coney Island’ basically because in Detroit we’re known for our Coney Islands (hot dogs),” Bizarre explains. “A lot of people that visit there may think it’s nasty, but only a true Detroiter can appreciate that. I still live in Atlanta, but if you’re from Detroit, you just can’t get it out of your system. So I have to go back every two weeks or so to stay in tune. I’m just a Detroit guy.

Both D-12 albums, Devil’s Night and D-12 World, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 and are both certified platinum. Bizarre has also been featured on Eminem’s last three albums, The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, and Encore.

His first solo album, Hannicap Circus, sold over 21,000 copies in its first week of release and debuted at #12 on the Billboard Rap Chart. Now he’s back with his second solo effort, Blue Cheese ‘n’ Coney Island. The first single, “Fat Boy,” produced by Eminem’s early collaborating producer Jeff Bass, is sure to keep fans simultaneously packing the dance floor and falling out of their seats with laughter. Bizarre’s larger than life persona and one-of-a-kind flow is sure to make Blue Cheese ‘n’ Coney Island a must get for hip-hop fans across the country.

Trey Songz let's BadNews know, "What's Good!"

Posted at

What’s really hood? Yo, my familia Badnews just conducted a interview late last monght with up-n-coming R&B artist Trey Songz. That’s right Trey Songz. As you find out the 22-year old Petersburg, Virginia native is that he’s very down to earth and wants the same things out life that young cat his age strives for…wealth, health and a good woman. Awesome. On the heels of his upcoming album “Trey Day” which will be released on October 2nd, take some time to learn a little about him before you see him plastered across MTV, BET and all the major outlets. Oh and remember where you saw this first…

Badnews: What’s good with you?

Trey Songz: I’m doing good man

Badnews: Cool. Ok let’s get it. How did you first hook up Troy Taylor? He’s been around for a long time and work with virtually every R&B legend you can think of...

Trey Songz: Well, I meet him when I was like 14… Nah I think I was 15. But I met him through a friend of my mothers who actually was his partner, but they don’t work together anymore. But I met him, I sang for him and he liked me and took me under his wing, you know showed me the ropes. I use to come out to see him for a few summers and when I graduated high school, I moved in with him for about a year and took it from there.

Badnews: Now you produced AND co-wrote for soca artist Kevin Lytle. How did you get into soca music?

Trey Songz: well I got a call and was asked if I wanted to come out and meet him, for a couple days we wrote some songs, and then I was able to get a couple songs on his album, but I like soca. I still don’t know much about it I like the music, pretty much any music from the Caribbean. All of it is good music.

Badnews: what’s the difference between R&B and soca music?

Trey Songz: well they both want to make you dance. They both have a good rhythm to it. There’s a good vibe and a feel.

Badnews: Ok…now speaking of other music, I heard you rap too. What would Trey Songz rap about?

Trey Songz: Life…..whatever is going on around me. Some of these rappers lie and portray people there not, but I would just speak on life like whatever is going on. Ill rap about women the club… I talk a lot of shit, I talk a lot of shit anyway but rap is just like R&B to me its just another way to express myself, just get the creative juices flowing and express myself.

Badnews: Ok cool. Now who’s on you latest album “Trey Day”? and were there any artists you wanted to work with that weren’t on this album?

Trey Songz: Well I won’t say who’s NOT on the album, but I have appearances by Jim Jones and Bun B. then production by Brian Cox, R. Kelly, Dr. Dre, and Jimmy Jam I know I'm leaving some people out…..But production wise it was an all-star cast. A lot of producers today are like artists so the music is crazy and Jim Jones and Bun B helped me out and gave me a lot of guidance on this album but it’s a great album everyone involved made it a great album and there are a lot of great songs. OH! DJ Drama is on the album too.

Badnews: It sounds like its going to be a hot album. Ok your into to Rap, you do R&B…will we get to see a Rap/R&B album something like how Tyresse/Black Ty dropped? That’s a lot of slashes (laughs)

Trey Songz: I don’t know. Right now I’m just playing with it. I fell in love with rap before I fell in love with R&B. I never heard Tyresse’s album but I don’t know if I want to split it up and make one album R&B and one album Rap.

Badnews: Ok so we just have to wait and see world. Now my next question is what was the best advice given from an artist in your position about handling fame?

Trey Songz: (pauses) well I never got any advice from my peers. Just from Jim Jones and Bun B there my OG’s. I can call them for anything anytime. But the best advice is stay true to yourself. A lot of people don’t really understand what that really means because it sounds cliché but it’s a real true statement and it really is the best advice.

Badnews: In 2006, you did a song with Japanese artist AI right?

Trey Songz: Yeah.

Badnews: Now is it AI like Iverson A.I. or….

Trey Songz: Nah it’s pronounced AI (eye)

Badnews: Oh Ok got it. Well you did a song with AI and even preformed it at the MTV Japanese Music Awards. Do you speak Japanese or other languages?

Trey Songz: Well I don’t really speak it. I just know enough to get by like if I’m over there and I’m hungry. But Japanese is real easy to learn.

Badnews: Really!? I heard Japanese and English is the hardest languages to learn.

Trey Songz: Nah it’s real easy to learn (laughs)

Badnews: Ok, I believe you. I didn’t know that (laughs). Ok what did you think about Barry Bonds tying Hank Aarons home run record?

Trey Songz: I mean it’s a historic thing. It’s a beautiful thing records are meant to be broken.

Badnews: Did you play any baseball or get into to any sports when you were younger? You didn’t really get into music until later on so did you play any sports?

Trey Songz: I never was into baseball when I was young. I like it now and I can sit down and watch it. But I’m more of a basketball player. When I was young I played basketball and soccer.

Badnews: Ok I feel you on that. Ok last question. Who would be your top five video vixens, actresses’ or any female you’d want in your next video?

Trey Songz: I really don’t like to use girls. Everyone else has the same girls in there video so I would have to get a beautiful women you never seen before

Badnews: Ok that’s a good answer (laughs) could she be from Virginia or just anyone?

Trey Songz: Any girl. Just a beautiful girl from anywhere.

Badnews: Ok no doubt (laughs). Well thank you for taking time out to talk

Badnews: Ok No problem I appreciate it—

Trey Songz: No I appreciate it (laughs)

Yo, we'd like to thank Trey Songz for layin' it down for the HipHopRuckus Crew. Remember, go cop that new album Trey Day when it drops on October 2nd!

Posted at

Big Gates/Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic recording artist Plies has made an explosive chart debut with his debut album, "The Real Testament." The collection - which features the blockbuster hit single, "Shawty (Feat. T-Pain)" - entered the Billboard 200 at #2.

Hailed as "one of the realest you will ever know," Plies has already established a phenomenal underground and street presence on the strength of his infamous mixtapes and live show. For his major label debut, the MC relays tales of street struggle, making money, and ghetto queens - what he refers to as "reality music." "When people get this CD, they gon' live by it," proclaims Plies. The Ft. Myers, Florida-bred rapper recently heralded the release of "The Real Testament" with a whirlwind promo tour of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, visiting 10 cities (including Ft. Myers, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, Savannah, Charlotte, and Columbia) in just four days.

"Shawty (Feat. T-Pain)" is without doubt one of the summer's biggest hip-hop smashes, now ranking at #1 with-a-bullet at Urban radio outlets nationwide, exceeding 10,000 spins. The single is also currently #2 on Billboard's "Hot Rap Tracks" chart, as well as #5 on the "Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" tally. A true crossover hit, "Shawty" is also ascending Billboard's "Hot 100," coming in as the week's biggest "Airplay Gainer" to land at #12.

The ringtone for "Shawty" is proving equally popular, coming in this week as the #1 Ringback tone on T-Mobile's "Top 25," while climbing to #3 on Billboard's "Hot RingMasters" chart.

Furthermore, the "Shawty" companion video is a sensation, hitting #1 on BET after scoring top 10 play on both 106 & Park and Rap City. Last week, Plies celebrated the release of "The Real Testament" with a pair of visits to 106 & Park, including an explosive live performance alongside T-Pain.

Plies and "Shawty" are also blowing up across the MTV spectrum, scoring "Big 10" rotation at MTV, "Elite 8" at MTV2, "Cum Laude" at mtvU, and "Sizzlin" at MTV Jams. Plies was also among MTV's recent crop of "Discover & Download" artists. As if that weren't enough, the "Shawty" clip made its Music Choice debut in the #1 spot, entering the channel's rotation as the week's most "demanded" music video.

With "Shawty" blazing through the summer, Plies is already set to unveil his second single. "Hypnotized (Feat. Akon)" is slated to impact at multi-format radio outlets in mid-September.

Online, Plies is blowing up at MySpace, where he is currently ranked as the #6 artist overall, as well as #4 on the "Top Hip-Hop Major Artist" list. His page - located at www.myspace.com/plies - is among the site's most popular, with assorted tracks logging over 12 million streams thus far. Also, a devoted channel recently launched at YouTube, with a variety of videos and exclusive content available at www.youtube.com/PliesWorld.

Plies will be featured in a wide variety of national publications, including the covers of the August issue of Ozone magazine and the September/October issue of Down Magazine. In addition, "Shawty" was just named the year's "Best Rap/R&B Collaboration" at the 2nd Annual Ozone Magazine Awards, held earlier this week at 2007 TJ's DJ's Tastemaker DJ/Music Conference in Miami. Plies received further Ozone nominations for "Mixtape Monster Award" and "Most Slept-On Artist."

ATL Hitmakers C-Side to release I-Tunes EP in Sept.

Posted at

ATL hip hop trio C-Side is at it again, primed to have the breakout hit of the summer for a second year in a row. Last summer’s “Myspace.Freak” catapulted the group from behind-the-scenes hitmakers into the limelight garnering over 1 million plays on Myspace.com and serving as the catalyst for their massive online presence. Now “Boyfriend/Girlfriend,” a breezy, nostalgic track, has taken over the radio airwaves with close to 2500 spins and over 6.5 million in audience to date across 4 different formats, including HOT 97 in NYC, WHTA in Atlanta and Sirius Satellite Radio. In response, C-SIDE will release a 3-song "Boyfriend/Girlfriend" EP featuring “Boyfriend, Girlfriend,” “Myspace.freak,” and “$1000 Car,” via iTunes in September.

Since forming C-Side six years ago, Kenny Kold, Gator and Bo-Q have sold over 60,000 units independently. They’ve also made a name for themselves by producing records for everyone from Ludacris and TI, to Lil’ Mama and Dem Franchise Boyz.

Music lovers got their first taste of C-SIDE'S undiluted -- yet accessible, brand of music with the group’s debut single “Myspace.Freak,” a song which started out as a joke
