MUSIC | VIDEOS | INTERVIEWS | NEW ARTIST | HOME40 Cal to release "Broken Safety 2"
Posted at 7/26/2007 06:17:00 PM

40 Cal., a member of Harlem-based group The Diplomats (aka Dipset), first appeared with the self-titled theme song “40 Cal.” on the Dipset album Diplomatic Immunity, Vol. 2 (2004). He moved onto numerous Dipset releases including DukeDaGod’s More Than Music Vol. 1 (2005) and More Than Music Vol. 2 (2007). 40 Cal.’s reputation is built on his notable rhyme-battling skills, captured on MTV2’s Fight Klub MC Battles. The competition allowed 40 Cal. to display his street-level approach and flow — a dose of lethal metaphors combined with his gangsta braggadocio. 40 Cal. earned the nickname “Mr. Rewind That” as a moniker reflecting his abilities to spit metaphors, causing hip-hop heads to “rewind” just to catch the reference.
With his own solo mixtapes, 40 Cal. has made a name for himself, selling several thousand units on his own. Beginning in 2006, he stepped up his exposure, releasing mixtapes to be sold nationally such as Broken Safety for Cleopatra Records. 40 holds more than the usual swagger to substantiate his claim, having amassed street based mixtape sales of 50,000+ units.

"Shatek The Producer Invades HHR" Exclusive Interview with Badnews
Posted at 7/26/2007 05:53:00 PM
Yo what’s the deal everyone it’s your boy Badnews. Yes I’m on vacation, but I managed to get a few interviews or two in you know I got to feed you. The latest from me is from budding hip hop mogul? Producer Shatek the Producer. You probably know the name because he’s probably produced for you favorite rapper well I couldn’t get a voice interview because the man is very very busy so we had to switch things up and get this done so you will know who this man is is and get to say you heard of him before everyone else. So here it is and have a good rest of the summer. Shout out to USC… GO TROJANS. (Don’t get mad with me Queen Princess)Badnews: So how did you get your company together?
Shatek the Producer: It’s still in the works its something new
Badnews: How long have you been producing
Shatek the Producer: I've been producing professionally for about 5yrs. But I really started
with equipment and everything in 1998.
Badnews: What's the name of your company?
Shatek the Producer: Chaproductions…Carrying, Heavy, Artillery
Badnews: That’s a hot name… real serious (laughs). So what do enjoy about producing?
Shatek the Producer: The most enjoyment I get out of it is people’s reaction. And that moment after u make a beat and the feeling u got a hot joint.Badnews: So who have you produced? I know you bring heat.
Shatek the Producer: Dmx, 50cent,40 cal, Cam’ Ron, DMC (RUN-DMC), Fat Joe, Vic Damone, Stack Bundles (RIP), Fabolous, Bizaar Royale, Domination, Cassidy, Joe Buddens, JR Writer, and a bunch of up and coming rappers
Badnews: that’s a crazy track record. What was some of the advice that helped you in this biz?
Shatek the Producer: Working hard and grinding and make it a priority. And don't let NO ONE get the best of u.
Badnews: That’s whets up. What do you think about the Stack Bundles situation? I know its still a sensitive subject still but what can you decipher from all that?
Shatek the Producer: I think it’s a real fucked up situation. I think he had the potential to be one of the biggest rappers in Hip Hop. Rip Stack B
Badnews: that’s so real. He could have been a segway for the next generation of NY rappers to get back in the mainstream spoghtlight. It’s hard to change the topic but, would you ever think about branching out into other forms of media?
Shatek the Producer: I have. I have had music featured in video games, movies, TV shows,
sport events, I did a halftime show song with (Dallas Cowboys lineman) Marcellus Wiley and DMC. how real is that?
Badnews: honestly that doesn’t sound real… that sounds like the best dream ever (laughs). What do you think about the sopranos ending?
Shatek the Producer: I thought it was trash. (Laughs) Fuck the Sopranos I don't watch thatshit (Laughs)
Badnews: that’s because you’re a busy man. You don’t have time for all that TV and the HBO and the have you (Laughs). What are your plans for this summer? Well the rest of the summer?
Shatek the Producer: To work harder get more placements. And get this Chaproductions thing
off the ground.
Badnews: well you will from what you said you did, you will have become another Dame Dash or bigger by next year (laughs) I'm serious. Well thanks for putting aside some time for your boy I know you’re extremely busy. Any shout outs?
Shatek the Producer: Yeah…shout out to Jab, Quest, Bags, Vic Damone, and DJ Onpoint
Badnews: and shout out to our Hiphopruckus.com mixtape to. I had to get that in there I know Corey will be proud (laughs) ok take care.

Rosco wants to know can "You Feel Me"
Posted at 7/25/2007 07:59:00 PM
With the summer season bringing about a wave of mixtapes and the hottest mixshows, chances are you've heard of the summer's newest street anthem, "You Feel Me," by Rosco featuring Akon and Jadakiss. Perhaps it was on one of the more than 30 mixtapes circulating around with the single. Maybe it was on the countless hip hop websites, podcasts, and blogs mentioning it with rave reviews. Regardless of where its been heard, the fact is that the single is officially one of the hottest surfacing around."You Feel Me" has taken on a guerilla approach of its own. In just a fewshort weeks, the single has made its way through the hands of DJs, mixshows, and industry tastemakers worldwide creating a tremendous street response. Rosco has already recorded over 850 drop requests received from DJs nationwide and overseas and is constantly receiving additional requests for drops and mixtape features. The single is also topping charts in the overseas market ( i.e. Berlin, Japan, London, Australia, Quebec, to name a few). Beyond that, several stations have already picked up the single for spins including: 102.9 WOWI, 92.1 WCDX, 92.7 WJBT, 96.3 KTTB, 103.9 KBDS, 98.3 KKFR, Music Choice Networks, Sirius satellite Channel 50, XM satellite channel 66, and many more. Of course a collaboration with some of the industry's finest- Akon and Jadakiss- makes for a great formula for a hit record, but Rosco undoubtedly holds his own with these two great artists and delivers on the single. Given the single's tremendous success, the next few weeks brings about increased efforts to ensure that every DJ, radio station, and media source knows about Rosco, but one thing's for sure the wheels have already been set in motion for a successful take-off.
