Tory Adams (Tamala Jones) is the perfect wife, mother, best girlfriend, and boss. She is a successful doctor who runs her own medical practice in NYC. Married to an equally successful lawyer (Bokeem Woodbine), she and her husband live in a $3 million brownstone in Harlem with their 6-year-old daughter. Despite appearances of an idyllic life, there's one problem: Tory is secretly a high-class call girl who goes by the name Candy and is addicted to satisfying the fetishes of rich men. Nevertheless, Tory has convinced herself that her life is normal — until one of her clients becomes obsessed with her. This sets off a harrowing chain of events involving blackmail, rape, and ultimately murder. As her life spins out of control, Tory seeks therapy to help her deal with her deep, dark secrets, but her time is running out. When her obsessed client confronts her husband, it becomes a matter of life . . . and death.

Selena "Girlfriend" (Audio) + Biography!

Posted at

Exclusive Audio
Ok playas, we gonna slow it down a notch for "Freaky Friday". This next artist that I want to introduce to you is on the R&B tip and she goes by Selena (reppin' the Bronx). She wanted me to let you hear her bangin' new single called "Girlfriend" and to put you on to her official site...click here. After you hear her sounds, read a little about her background (see below). Hope you enjoy!

"Girlfriend" (click to listen)

Biography
Born in the Bronx, New York as an only child to Puerto Rican parents, Selena can be considered what most people would call a “Nuyorican”. Her family would initially recognize her tremendous talent at her uncle’s house parties where, at 5 years old she would “bring the house down” with a larger than life rendition of Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All”. There after, she would be known as the little girl with a big voice. Anyone who heard her sing would ask “how can such a big voice come out of such a small person?” “My idols were Whitney and Lisa Lisa when I was little, so I suppose I would mimic them as best as I could”, she recalls.

Moving to Colorado at the age of 8 shaped Selena in a way that would open her mind to a whole new world of cultures and music. As you can imagine, growing up as a Puerto Rican girl in the middle of Denver took quite a bit of adjustment. As a result though, her musical influences and experiences were given an opportunity to flourish in a way that would create her soulful, yet jazz infused style. “Being an only child, I would sit for hours alone in my room listening to the likes of Faith Evans, Ella Fitzgerald, Amel Larrieux, Tamia and Mary J. Blige”. Singing in many girl groups along the way, Selena developed a love for songwriting. In order to hone her talent she attended the Denver School of Arts and after graduating high school she made her dream of moving to Miami a reality. “In the midst of the September 11th tragedy I decided I would rather die trying to use the talent God gave me, than live with regrets, so I happily packed up and left my old life behind. I think Miami is the perfect combination of island culture and climate along with the nightlife of New York. You can’t beat it. See I’m really an island girl at heart”.

She currently teaches private and group voice lessons at a music school and is frequently called upon by local recording studios to work with established, and up and coming artists. While songwriting for other budding talents, Selena has had the opportunity to sing background and reference vocals for nationally and internationally known recording artists such as Pitbull, Scarface, Duece Poppi and Guru of Gangstarr, making a small name for herself around town. “It is time to focus on my own music now; create my sound”. And many believe that it is due time. She is currently working closely with popular Miami based producers, The Diaz Brothers (of Pitbull production), Jim Jonsin ( Danity Kane “Showstopper”), and Inner Circle (Bad Boys theme song of cops) and REDD of Streetrock.

Redhead "Hello" (Audio) + Biography

Posted at

In celebration of conscious and abstract poetical, metaphysical hip hop, which seems to be lacking in these days of bling-powered nonethingness, I want you check this new artist named RedHead (reppin' DC all day by the way) and also put you on to his new single "Hello" which contains an excerpt of a speech by Oprah Winfrey which was taped at Red's recent graduation from Howard U. What can I say about cuz...well, This brotha is on the flowmatic tip with an educated dialect which i feel the masses that view HHR should feel. He's got a thousand stories to express fo sho. After you hear his this track that I've provided, I'd like you to check out his track record (see below). In the coming weeks, we'll feature some more heat from RH. So stayed tuned!

"Hello" (click to listen)

BIOGRAPHY
What kind of a performer can boast to have international and local acclaim and has yet to see one record contract? Well, there's one person that can take that position. Redhead is an emcee/mixtape promoter from northwest Washington DC, residing in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Born with a Carribean background from Jamaica & Grenada, he has been rhyming for a few years as a hobby until mid-2002 when he started to take hiphop more seriously due to an occurrence with an A&R from the now-defunct MCA Records. With his unique style, voice, and versatile flow, Redhead's main objective is to hold the audience's attention with an underground rap style with a little mainstream twist in the mix. He's appeared in many open mic spots in the DC area, particularly the "Euphoria" spot with his associates known as the group Hands High. He has appeared on BET on a "Campus Invasion Tour" segment, performed on a local television show in Prince Georges' County MD about emcees breaking into the industry, and has been on stage in front of Howard University's roughly 11,000+ student population at a show featuring acts such as Capone-N-Noreaga and Whyte Out from 106 & Park. He later graduated from the university with a Bachelors degree in Political Science and blessings from talk show host Oprah Winfrey.

Redhead was also on a mixtape that featured 50 Cent, Joe Budden, Freeway, and Royce Da 5'9 among others. He has also hooked up with R&B singer Mya on July 25th, 2003, on an interview made for The Washington Post Magazine. On August 29th, 2003, he competed on the Friday Night Mic Fight battles that were broadcasted on WPGC 95.5FM, which was heard all over Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia. He's also battled on WKYS 93.9FM. Around the beginning of his sophomore year at college, he joined the DC regional Verbal Armageddon competition and was ranked in the top 10 best MCs out of 50+ competitors. This competition had underground artist ICON The Mic King as a past champion. Even though Redhead lost, he gained a big following on the campus and was respected as a true talent. He later returned to the competition in 2007 and became a semi-finalist after undergoing several bizarre challenges such as freestyling about a light bulb and a fictional, hilarious encounter with a transvestite in Las Vegas, among other topics.

At the age of 20, Redhead completed work on his first independently released EP, "It Is What It Is". One of its tracks, entitled "4 Da Broke & Sexy", was also featured on a mixtape called "The Next Big Thing" and was distributed in the area of Atlanta and Texas. Magnificent of Swisha House Entertainment calls Redhead "one of the flyest lyricists I've met, and he's going to be big one day, for sure!" On March 3rd, 2005, Redhead traveled to Baltimore, MD to open for Masta Ace (old school hip-hop legend famous for "The Symphony" with Marley Marl), Wordsworth (former host of MTV's Lyricist Lounge Show), and Freestyle (of the group The Arsonists) to celebrate the release of the "Revolutions Of The Mind Mixtape Vol. 1: See No Evil", which was put together by Third I Revolutions.

On January 13th, 2006, Redhead simultaneously released his first mixtape "Modern Nostalgia Vol. 1" to the streets of the DC Metropolitan area and parts of Canada. Distributed by independent label Criminal Records, the project featured tracks from himself, his fellow colleagues, and mainstream artists from all over. The mixtape incorporated the sound of old-school hiphop with the styles and personalities of the new generation of artists, and was critically acclaimed. On January 26th, 2007, Redhead made history from being the first unsigned American hiphop artist to get his record ("I Like") radio play in Australia during its national holiday. As of April 11th, 2007, Redhead will be playing the role of Richard Hawkins (of the past) in the Internet episodes of the CBS series "Jericho" for 5 episodes. Currently, he does freelance work with producers Howard "Versityle" Toliver of Songbook Entertainment, the production team that houses R&B artist Trey Songz.

Look out for this emcee in the near future as he continues his road to success.

REVIEWS
Redhead is stylistically much better than many of those uninspired rappers that take up half of the pages of The Source every month. He respects the hip hop culture, and definitely adds something good to it. - Jani Cortesini

Redhead has a distinctive voice and it could be this that breaks him as an emcee. It has an Eminem like quality to it, but not so much that it becomes annoying. I think that with the right exposure, Redhead could be big. - Chris Nicholls

Good solid hip hop that is tight and well produced! Redhead, hailing from the great state of Maryland, shows a lot of depth in his music that is often missing these days in the genre. Though I hear elements of Nas and "Paul's Boutique" era Beastie Boys, he's got a sound that's all his own. I could listen to this stuff all day. His real specialty seems to be his smooth and rhythmic vocals. Bottom line: check this guy out, he's got hip hop that you need to hear if you call yourself a hip hop fan. And if you don't call yourself a hip hop fan, listen anyway, and then stop making excuses and become one. - Jonathan Sanders

Needless to say, this isnt just money, hoes and clothes but, in actuality, the reality of where hip-hop is going vs. where hip-hop should be. This is a clear message of Redheads skill and true gospel. I could feel my body want to do something, anything before the pressure of this baffling experience finally took over. When an artist has the ability to do that, is when he can crown himself king. - Jayne Jaramillo

Former NFL Player, Famouz (AKA FMZ), Readies Debut LP, Ghetto Passport, 9-25-07

Posted at

From a broke-down project in Shreveport, Louisiana to celebrity status, Famouz has truly been there and done that. Taking his “50 state hustler” mantra to new levels, Famouz played collegiate football for Rutgers University and is a former 4-year veteran NFL football player for the New York Giants (1999-2003) and also played for the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League.

While there have been a host of former athletes turned entertainment entrepreneurs’, Famouz is different as he has been rapping since he was 12-years old and even opened up for E-40 at the young age of fifteen. Aware of the skepticism regarding athletes turned rappers, Famouz assertively laments “I am different from any other athlete that has ventured into the music industry. First of all, I was a walk on for the NY Giants. I wasn’t drafted and I had to prove myself to make the team every year, as every year I was cut and played my way back on the team. Secondly, I wasn’t making a lot of money and the money that I did make went into my passion which was music. The difference is that music is my passion and my football career just happened to come first. I had the talent to go pro, but music is something that pumps through my blood daily; it keeps me alive. To quiet those people who say that athletes can’t be good at more than one thing is what I intend to do. I’ve proven I can perform at the highest level and produce results in anything that I set my mind to; I’ve been doing it my whole life.

Backed by the production of One Drop Scott, the multitude of musical styles, display the versatility and talent of the creative genius Famouz. “I was inspired by the Isley Brothers, Run DMC, Prince, UGK and Tupac and grew up listening to funk, rock, rap and R&B. All of that helped me to develop my own style of pushing the envelope and creating a musical ghetto gumbo of sorts. Yeah, musical ghetto gumbo” laughs Famouz.

Famouz’s debut album entitled, Ghetto Passport, explains the struggle, experiences and realness of the rapper, entrepreneur / hustler. “Push” (which was inspired by the “get knocked down, get right back up” mentality of NBA Star Dwyane Wade) revolves around the spirit of working hard to get what you want. Famouz also teamed up with Jon Bon Jovi to interpolate Bon Jovi’s classic “Bad Name” with a Hiphop twist and as Famouz explains, the collaboration came to life due to mutual interests “I first met Bon Jovi when I was with the Giants, then when I was in the Arena League, I played against the Philly Soul (the team Jon owns) and they were a huge rival of ours. Later on we presented the idea of collaborating to Jon and the rest is history.” Also, be on the lookout for the controversial “Trippin” featuring E-40, the hypnotic call and response number “Swervin” and “Wiggle” a club banger that will have all of the females running to the dance floor to shake their moneymaker (“front, back and middle”). A few of Famouz’s personal favorites from Ghetto Passport include “Heaven” because as Famouz states “we are living in very tragic times and it will speak to people” obviously “Bad Name” because “it’s fuc*ing Bon Jovi” and the remake of David Bowie’s “Fame” now re-entitled “Famouz” as it truly takes music to another level; and it took forever to clear and my man Huff Daddy got it done” .

Famouz’s vision was further solidified when he signed with World Jam Records, which is headed by David L. Huff aka Huff Daddy. Huff Daddy realized the talent and work ethic displayed by Famouz as he balanced his job and passion for music. Their collaboration brings more unbelievable music to the table.

The promotion for Ghetto Passport is well underway, as Famouz joined Los Angeles Lakers players Kobe Bryant, Luke Walton and Brian Cook in March 2007 to host a free to the public fiesta featuring music from Famouz and World Jam Records. In addition, a US club-tour is already being solidified and as Famouz comments, be ready for some A-List guest stars to appear on the road with him “I have a lot of friends that still play football. They know that I’ve been working on this music stuff for along time. I’m not going to mention names right now, but come on, I was a former Giant. But aside from those surprise guests, in the long run, my music will definitely speak for itself.

So, get ready to sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as Famouz’s debut, Ghetto Passport, gears up to hit the streets and clubs on September 25th, 2007

Bazialini hits the undergrounds of S.C.

Posted at

Some of the hottest underground emcees converged upon Anderson, South Carolina to participate in the Def Jam & Sho'Nuff Records Music Showcase presented by SoBold entertainment. Amongst the many talented emcees to display their talents one emcee in particular stood out amongst the many local and regional artist, Bazialini, this emcee came all the way from Oakland,CA. to rep the west side. Bazialini brought the energy of the west coast, hyphy Movement and fused it with his own home grown southern swagger to deliver what some are calling Cali Crunk.

Although Bazialini was the one lone emcee from the west, that didn't stop him from putting down. The west coast can rest easy in knowing he held the west down as he performed "Ballin Off The Wall" & "Thowed". Both songs are from his upcoming album "Person of Interest". Bazialini has proven once again that his star is on the rise and he doesn't plan on stopping until her reaches the top.
