Isaac Hayes says to Hip Hop,"..it ain't gonna last"
Posted at 1/27/2007 08:52:00 AM
In a recent report, Isaac Hayes told Rawkus Records, while in NY performing a promotional campaign, in regards to the state of Hip Hop today, "It ain't gonna last. I'll disagree with some of the subject matter, especially the negative stuff that would provoke disrespect to women. And also the thing that promotes violence.” Strong but hard words. Can hip hop survive? I don't know, but folks we really have to filter out what's crap and what's art. When you have a soul legend such as Isaac basically "crapping" on Hip Hop, then there is a problem. I do agree with Mr. Hayes in a sense that the music and the message has deterioated. Monie Love felt so ferverent about this subject that she got fired as a result of an heated interview with Young Jeezy over the same subject (Click Here To Listen). As long as these greedy ass Major Record companies, keep putting the watered down music that's being put on the market and onto TV, then Hip Hop will continue to falter. Hip Hop needs a messiah to bring us to the promise land!! To the young MCs out there...What can you bring to the table to change the game?

Jay Z On Smash During SuperBowl (Watch Commercial)
Posted at 1/26/2007 08:42:00 AM
Looks like Jay Z is going to make even bigger moves this year. Based on a report by AllHipHop, "Hov" is shooting a Bud Light commercial with Hall Of Fame NFL Coach Don Shula in which the pair will face off in a "high tech football game that uses holographic imagery". Cool stuff and get this, the commercial is being shown as a result of the partnership with Jay and Anheiser-Busch. Wow, this guy is going to be the next "black" Donald Trump. He's really came up from his meager beginnings growing up in the Marcy Housing Developments of Brooklyn, NY to the boss he is now. Do your thang baby!!

Will Mike Jones Flop in '07?
Posted at 1/26/2007 07:52:00 AM
Mike Jones might be a major force in 2007. He is going to drop a new EP and a movie based on his struggles on getting into the music industry. Will he flop though. Mr. Jones thinks not. He claims that he won't be a "fluke", and the next album will prove that. In an exclusive interview with SOHH, Mike states "People think that 'Who? Mike Jones' was a fluke, it was just a brand thing. With this [album], it's me really experiencing my sound...I'm back to writing about bling and candy paint and the things I know, it's just that this album is what the first one should have been."
MY OPINION: We'll see Mike, we'll see. I really don't know how many more of those irritating quotes of "Mike Jones...Mike Jones.." that I can take, but hey suprise me. Really there's only so much spit about "bling" and other shit like that that you can speak on before it's played out. Cuz, if you don't live up to your words and goof it up like I think you will, then..."Houston, We Have A Problem." Who might crash and burn in '07, "Mike Jones...Who....Mike Jones!!!"

The Wu Is Coming Thru
Posted at 1/25/2007 06:12:00 AM
It's been a long time coming, but The Wu-Tang Clan is planning a to drop a comeback album this summer. According to SOHH, the album will be called 8 Diagrams and will be released by SRC records. Personally, I hope the album will be much better than their last album, "Wu Tang Forever" which was released in 1997. It failed to give the same impact, I thought, as "Enter the Wu-Tang" from 1993 for whence I have heard over 500 times. Does the Wu still have it? Can they still bring the rugged and deadly beats they created we then burst on the scene. Damn, i hope so because at this point in time, Hip Hop really needs some originality and cahunas. Can the Wu break down the mathematics of this monetary hypocracy that these Record Labels have created of perception of perceived wealth. Well the RZA thinks so. He tell SOHH, "This is the perfect time for us to come back, the stars are aligned...People want something that gives them an adrenaline rush...We're here to supply that fix. How could hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever? We're here to revive the spirit and the economics and bring in a wave of energy that has lately dissipated." This is the last time for the Wu to really put it down. If they can't do it, then the Wu is dead "Forever"
