Custom Made Drops "Heavy Traffic!" (New Mixtape Download + News)

Posted at

West Up. We're (Custom Made crew, not HHR) back at y'all with a new treat, the opportunity to download "Heavy Traffic," (see below) the fourth installment of the popular "Street Cinema" mixtape series from Los Angeles' own Custom Made. The MC collective of Scoobs, Aneek, Element, Bluff and Sinister Six have made themselves fan favorites worldwide by dropping mixtape after mixtape of straight up Hip Hop with an LA twist. Signed with acclaimed label BabyGrande Records, the group has been in the studio through out the year working on the upcoming release of their debut album "Fresh Out."

Their strong work ethic led to them recording enough music to bring us the free download of their Rawkus Records EP "Truth Be Told" this past April and the new project. We caught up with Scoobs to talk about the new mixtape and find out some more on the "Fresh Out" album. Catch what he had to say below.

On the new "Heavy Traffic" mixtape:
"This is fourth tape from our 'Street Cinema' series," said Scoobs. "We've been recording tracks for 'Fresh Out' for the past year and we have a lot of material. These are some of the left over tracks that won't be making the album. This is something to hold fans over until 'Fresh Out' actually drops. We came in the game doing mixtapes so we can't stop now. Might as well drop another one."

On how long it took to put the project together:
"The majority of these tracks were recorded during the same time period as 'Truth Be Told,'" said Scoobs. "We went in the lab with THX for three months and just banged out a gang of tracks. After that we just divided the tracks into different projects. We still have more shit on the way, but we're saving the best joints for 'Fresh Out.'"

On the features for 'Heavy Traffic' and why they chose that title:
"We got Bad Lucc up on here, Noni Spitz, Mac Lucci from the Cream Team plus our extended fam Paradox, S-Mak and the Street Disciplez," said Scoobs. "On the production tip we got THX, Kayy, Finesse, Frank Dukes, Abstrakt and some other up and comers. Shout out to everyone that helped contribute to the project. All these cats are fam so it was good to get up in the lab and make history. If you look back at the other 'Street Cinema' tapes they were all named after movies that Custom Made as a group thought were dope. We named this tape after the Ralph Bakshi animated film 'Heavy Traffic.' That's a classic flick and the name also applies to Los Angeles. We got stupid traffic out here and it's a heavy traffic of cats trying to break into the game."

On the anticipated new BabyGrande Records debut album:
"Fresh Out is almost a wrap," said Scoobs. "Right now we have enough tracks recorded for three more albums. 'Fresh Out is' going to be crazy. The production is something vicious. It's nothing but classic material. We feel like we have something to prove, especially since we're coming from LA. If cats was sleeping before we're about to wake em up. Expect nothing but that uncut raw. Other than that shout out to my boy Six aka Young Grape holding it down from the inside right now. Only a year and a half left till he hits the streets. Until then we'll be heavy in this traffic!"
