DMX Ex-Lover upset with Stalker claims
Posted at 12/01/2006 05:12:00 PM
The single mum who romanced rapper DMX and gave birth to his son is refuting claims she stalked him after falling pregnant. Monique Wayne was stunned when DMX's angry wife Tashera confronted her on the phone one night, calling her a "bitch" and then joined her husband for a recent magazine interview in which they referred to her as a stalker who "raped" the rap star. Wayne insists she only slept with DMX when she thought he was single and never had sex with him again after learning he was married. And, as for the stalker claims, she insists she only tackled Tashera once when she returned his call.Furious Wayne says, "He called me, I returned his phone call and she returned the phone call for him and she told me, 'Stop calling my husband, you bitch.' "I explained to her that I was just returning his phone call and she hung up." Wayne is now suing DMX for defamation following his claims that the mother of his young son took advantage of him after he was tired after a concert.

Queens Rookie Drops Latest Effort in Honor of Triple Award Nods
Posted at 12/01/2006 04:39:00 PM
With the support of sponsors like The Source Magazine, Mixunit.com and MTV2, this year’s Justo Mixtape Awards show is set to be larger than life. Deejays from across the country are fever flushed at the mere thought of stepping on the stage of the legendary Apollo Theatre on December 7th and walking away with a coveted title and prize.Among those fervent hopefuls, stands DJ Superstar Jay. The Jamaica Queens native is nominated in three categories: Rookie of the Year, Best East Coast DJ and Best Mixtape Personality. Superstar Jay’s massive fan base is feverously showing their support by spearheading several online campaigns and the ever popular myspace bulletin frenzying to help Jay secure the votes he needs to ensure a victory over his stiff competition.
The commotion of recent events has only seemed to bring out the best in Jay. After making television appearances on MTV’s Direct Effect and BET’s Rap City last week, Jay spent a couple of well spent days locked away in the studio, at last he emerged clasping a gem. The CD, which hits stores today, is appropriately titled “Showtime at the Apollo” (See You at the Awards, DJ’s Don’t Get too Comfortable). It features exclusives by Lloyd Banks, Prodigy, and Jadakiss feat. Diddy & Nas, along with surefire bangers by 50 Cent, Gillie Da Kid, Lil’ Wayne and Beenie Sigel.
“This is so big for me and for New York (because it’s at the Apollo)”. Superstar Jay says. “I’ve always gotten love and respect from the hood, but it’s cool to be recognized by your peers and people that you admire and let the fans decide.”

The Clipse search for next Mixtape guest
Posted at 12/01/2006 04:17:00 PM
Coming off the hottest mixtape release of 2005, The Clipse are searching for the web’s best MC to appear on their first mixtape of 2007. To do this, the duo and their label Re-Up Gang/Jive have launched the Clipse Golden Mic Freestyle Battle, an online contest.
Budding MCs can upload video freestyles at the contest site (www.clipseonline.com/micbattle) and choose to represent one of three contest partners (HipHopDX.com, Ballerstatus.com and CarackSpace.com) or act as an independent. The top four freestyles from each category will compete in a round-robin tournament voted on by the public that begins 12/20/06. The MC with the last freestyle standing will be invited to appear on Clipse’s first mixtape of 2007.
On why they chose the Internet to launch their search, Pusha T of Clipse says, "Tapping the net is a great way to reach fans because we feel that u are reaching the truest form of music lover. This promotion caters to the hungry, searching, passionate fan and gives them an outlet to express themselves and be a part of the music they love." Pusha’s keys for freestyle success include, “Honesty - if the listener can feel the honesty, u will lock them in. Metaphors - the better u draw parallels, makes the verse more memorable. Cohesion - Make the freestyle make sense!”
Clipse debuted in 2002 with Lord Willin’, the album that spawned “Grindin,” a thundering, instant classic of gangsta minimalism that stormed the pop charts and sold well over 1 million copies. On 11/28/06, Clipse returned with their highly anticipated sophomore album Hell Hath No Fury, produced entirely by the Neptunes and released through Clipse’s brand new imprint, Re-Up Gang records. Hell Hath No Fury is sure to inspire a legion of new MCs who through the Clipse Golden Mic Freestyle Battle have a platform to get noticed. It will be exciting too see which fan rises to the top and earns a coveted spot on a Clipse mixtape. Visit www.clipseonline.com/micbattle for all contest details.

Snoop Dogg Confronts Record Label In Court
Posted at 11/30/2006 06:18:00 PM
Rapper Snoop Dogg is suing his former record label for unpaid royalties. The hip-hop star - real name Calvin Broadus- filed his complaint against Priority Records in Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming he's owed more than $2 million in back payments for hit albums including Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Boss, Tha Last Meal and Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not Told.
According to AllHipHop.com, Broadus singled out record giant EMI for cheating artists out of their wages after buying a 50 per cent stake in Priority Records in 1996, and the remainder two years later in 1998. The label has subsequently stopped running as an independently managed company, with operations merged into EMI's major US subsidiary, Capitol Records.
Broadus fumes in his lawsuit, "Apparently, since EMI has taken over the running of Priority from (founder) Bryan Turner, the once somewhat artist-friendly label has decided to make up for a downturn in the industry by failing to honour the contracts made with its hip-hop artists while Turner was at the helm." The rapper quit the label in 2002.

Vida Guerra Responds To Game, "You're Talking Shit, But You Were Trying To Get With Me"
Posted at 11/30/2006 05:57:00 PM
Model Vida Guerra recently talked with SOHH.com to discuss her retaliation plans against The Game and her new DVD, Exposed. As previously reported by SOHH.com, Guerra is planning to respond to The Game's "Wouldn't Get Far," a track on which he accuses Guerra, Melyssa Ford and several other models and actresses of sleeping around. Though Vida has yet to decide in what form she'll come back, something is definitely in the works.
"I'll have a little something. I don't know if it's gonna be an actual track, but it's just a little something that I have," Vida told SOHH. "I haven't heard it yet, but I heard about it. I was like, 'that's so stupid. He's trying to sell records.' And I'm gonna just do something in response to that.
"The whole thing with being a sex symbol, is people put you in that category. 'Ok, you're a sex symbol, so automatically, you're a whore,'" she added. "When I first heard about it, I thought, oh he's asked me out a couple of times and I've always said no. So it's like, 'is that why you wrote the song? It's like you're talking shit, but you were trying to get with me."
Though the response isn't complete yet, Vida gave SOHH a sample of the unfinished work. "I don't play games I just make a lot of g's/have them begging for my pussy like Vida, Vida please," she rhymed.
The Perth Amboy, NJ-born beauty is sure to venture deeper into rap on her self-titled debut. The album, which is near completion, has Vida offering a mix of singing and rapping. Word is Vida has already shot two videos for the project. Though heads won't get to hear her music until 2007, fans can get their Vida fix on her recent DVD, Exposed.
"It's just basically, a month in my life, everything that I do as far as events," Vida explained. "They get to know a little bit of my personality. They see me in the studio. They can see me in the dance studio with the choreographer. Just an introduction to my music and all the things that I do."
Vida Guerra's Exposed DVD is in stores now.
