Juvenile Not Guilty Of Hurting Jacksonville Woman
Posted at 11/11/2006 08:25:00 AM
Juvenile had his name cleared in a lawsuit brought against him by an off-duty Jacksonville, FL police officer yesterday (November 9).The suit, which was filed by Melissa Huxley-Bujeda in 2003, claimed Juvenile (born Terius Gray) was responsible for injuring her knee while she tried to break up a mall fight involving the rapper in 1999.
According to Huxley-Bujeda's suit, Juve and his entourage were asked to leave Regency Square Mall on July 23, 1999 because their dress and language were in violation of mall policies.
When the rapper and his associates began using profanity, Huxley-Bujeda said she was called to the scene to issue a trespass warning. Upon her arrival, a scuffle broke out and she allegedly injured her knee while trying to control Juvenile.
The former Cash Money Records star was then arrested on charges of breach of the peace and resisting an officer with violence, which were eventually dropped.
Since the incident, Huxley-Bujeda had four surgeries on her left knee and ended up with $68,635 in medical bills, which she was seeking via the suit.
On Thursday (November 9), a jury of six ruled in favor of Juvenile and found him not responsible for any damages.
During the trial, Juve's attorneys called in an expert who said Huxley-Bujeda had degenerative arthritis that had been developing for years. The attorneys discovered that she had hurt her knees about 35 times as a child, through cheerleading, gymnastics and other sports.
"We got them, we got them, we got them," Juvenile told The Florida Times Union while leaving Duval County Courthouse after the verdict. "Just the fact that it's a rap artist against the police, that never happens. Rappers never win. We never win against the police or the government."
Juve revealed that he wrote a new song while the trial took place. It's going to be a part of a new album, The New 400 Degrees. He said he thinks he'll call the song, "The Verdict." "I got to benefit off this in some kind of way," Juvenile said.
Huxley-Bujeda declined comment. Her lawyer divulged that he will file a motion for a new trial or an appeal

Raekwon Officially Inks Deal With Dre's Aftermath Label For Cuban Linx, Part 2
Posted at 11/10/2006 07:11:00 AM
Plans of a follow-up to his classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx has been in the works for a long time. Well, Raekwon has kicked it into high gear, and has found the perfect place to drop his new album -- Aftermath. The Wu-Tang member has officially inked a deal with Dr. Dre Aftermath label, with Dre producing the bulk of the Raekwon's music, according to MTV. But, he will also have Rza in his corner as well.
"I just felt it was going to be something to excite the fans in hip-hop," Rae told MTV. "Let them know I'm dealing with a whole list of thorough superproducers that's making sure this legacy of Cuban Linx carries on. We thought it was a brilliant idea to have RZA and Dr. collaborate, us being big Dre fans. His classics sheet is way long. As well as RZA's.
According to Rae, Dre was originally going to produce only a few tracks for the new album, but as they continued to work, things just came together.
"Allah put us in the right place," the rapper explained. "I'm working real hard, putting little pieces together. The album is coming out great. Everything is up to par. We still working on it, we never stop working till the last day."
The album will also feature production from the late J Dilla, Scram Jones and DJ Scratch.
Although there is no official release date, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Part 2 is expected to drop sometime next year, according to MTV.

The Clipse Mature With Sophomore Release, But Keep Street Sound
Posted at 11/09/2006 12:46:00 PM
The Clipse previewed their long-awaited sophomore album to select press on Friday (November 3) during a listening session in New York City. After being pushed back numerous times by their label Jive Records, the album, titled Hell Hath No Fury, is definitely worth the wait.
With 12-tracks produced by the Neptunes, they didn't stray from the sound Clipse fans have grown accustomed to, but yet have managed to evolve. Whereas Lord Willin' was almost entirely about cocaine, Hell Hath No Fury delves into other arenas such as apologizing to their mom for being living obnoxious lifestyles on "Momma, I'm So Sorry," to describing their version of life, if the have-nots one day became the haves, on "New World."
"We growing up. We might do a whole conscious album next time," Pusha T joked.
With songs like "Chinese New Year" and "We Got It 4 Cheap," they definitely haven't completely gotten the old Clipse out of their blood. There's talk of gun claps and slangin' coke between the aforementioned songs, but then again, this is the Clipse.
"My favorite songs on Hell Hath No Fury are 'Keys Open Doors' and 'We Got It 4 Cheap' because they're so, so street and everybody knows The Clipse are just so, so street," the Clipse's Malice told BallerStatus.com.
With a distinctive street sound, the album is creative and believable. There's even a song entitled "Nightmares," featuring Bilal, that has a Curtis Mayfield/Superfly vibe. Pusha T described the song as a hustler's paranoia, which is the case, however, the song is so smooth that even non-hustlers can appreciate it.
Pusha T sums up Hell Hath No Fury as "bringing back East Coast boom-bap" or a "throwback to the mid-nineties," while Malice says, "We're way more confident; way more cocky, so we're going at it. We ain't playing no games."
Hell Hath No Fury is slated for release November 28.

Lloyd Banks & Young Buck Let Off The Hook, Gun Charges Dropped
Posted at 11/09/2006 07:18:00 AM
According to the Associated Press, after being arrested last year, felony gun possession charges against G-Unit's Lloyd Banks and Young Buck were dropped yesterday (November 8).As previously reported by SOHH, in August of last year both Banks (born Chris Lloyd) and Buck (born Darnell Brown) were riding in a van with several other men when it ran a red light in midtown Manhattan. Officers said they discovered a loaded handgun and another weapon in the van. The two had just finished performing at MadisonSquareGarden on the "Anger Management 3" tour, which featured headliners Eminem and 50 Cent.
"This whole experience reminds me of the title of my new album, Rotten Apple," said Banks in a statement. Prosecutors asked a judge to dismiss the charges after an investigation determined the neither Banks nor Buck had possessed the guns, said Barbara Thompson, spokeswoman for Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau. Thompson said one suspect has pleaded guilty in the case while another remains under indictment.
