Jay-Z, Kanye West, Slim Thug Appear on Pharrell's 'Mind'
Posted at 7/08/2006 07:31:00 AM
Multi-platinum Star Trak/Interscope recording artist Pharrell Williams will release his debut solo album, In My Mind, on July 25, 2006."Number One," a collaboration with fellow producer-extraordinaire Kanye West, is Mr. William's new single. It follows "Can I Have It Like That," the album's hugely successful first offering which features Gwen Stefani.
Mr. Williams is perhaps best known as one half of The Neptunes, the virtuosos whose limitless talents and diverse interests have carried them into virtually every corner of music. As producers and songwriters, they are responsible for a number of the last half-decade's most successful and most creative hit songs, having worked with an impressive spectrum of artists from alternative rock group No Doubt, to hip-hop superstar Busta Rhymes, to pop icon Justin Timberlake.
Pharrell's unique ability as singer and emcee is an essential component in a number of those songs - think "Frontin'," his smash hit with Jay-Z, "Cot Damn," with the Virginia born duo, The Clipse, and "Beautiful," the smooth collaboration with Snoop Dogg - as well as on the Neptunes' critically acclaimed full-length efforts "The Neptunes Present...Clones" and, in the guise of N.E.R.D., In Search Of... and Fly or Die.
"In My Mind" will be produced entirely by Pharrell Williams for The Neptunes. Fans of his production work can purchase the Digital album with bonus instrumentals of all tracks exclusively at iTunes. The Album will feature guest appearances from Robin Thicke, Slim Thug and the aforementioned Kanye West and Gwen Stefani, among others.
Music hasn't been the only thing on Mr. Williams' mind. He will bolster his fashion credentials, adding to his clothing line, Billionaire Boys Club, and his sneaker brand, Ice Cream, with a line of jewelry done in conjunction with Louis Vuitton and appearances in the high-end brand's fall/winter ad campaign.

Dave Chappelle's Lost Episodes to Begin Sunday
Posted at 7/08/2006 07:18:00 AM
Before Dave Chappelle walked away from his hit self-titled Comedy Central series, he taped more than enough skits for extra episodes. Now the three Lost Episodes will begin airing Sunday (July 9) at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. The unseen footage was supposed to be part of the proposed 10-episode third season, but Comedy Central decided to use it for three episodes when Chappelle abruptly quit in April 2005. Filming for the footage that viewers will see in the Lost Episodes began in 2004.
In a preview of the Lost Episodes on Comedy Central’s website, Chappelle mocks his fame and fortune in a parody skit of MTV Cribs.
“What’s up MTV? Come on in you broke motherfu*****. See how I’m living,” Chappelle says to welcome the cameras to his crib in the skit. “What you’re stepping on is a marble foyer that was cut out of none other than Space Mountain. Very rare, like this coat – white panda. Hulk Hogan choked one out for me in China for my birthday. It’s reversible. This side is bald eagle.”
Later in the skit, Chappelle brushes off other high-profile celebrities, who own a large shoe closet in their crib. Instead, Chappelle reveals his very own sweatshop within his crib.
Chappelle Show co-stars Charlie Murphy and Donnell Rawlings will serve as the guest hosts of the Lost Episodes.
“Yea, me and Charlie Murphy are guest hosting. July 9th, it’s on and popping,” Rawlings exclusively told Vibe.com last week. “It’s awesome. A lot of time when someone’s the star of the show, they don’t really let the co-stars shine, but Chappelle let us really express our comedic ability. I respect him a lot.”
In April 2005, Chappelle fled to South Africa just a month before his show’s third season was scheduled to begin. Earlier this year, he told Oprah Winfrey that creative interference was the main reason he walked away from the show.
The three Chappelle Lost Episodes will be released on DVD July 25.

E-40 Responds To Hyphy Diss: "Ain't Nobody Ever Heard Of No Hyphy Inc"
Posted at 7/07/2006 08:30:00 AM
E-40 has responded to Hyphy Inc.'s accusations that they are exploiting the hyphy movement."Ain't nobody ever heard of no Hyphy Inc. ever! Like nobody in the Bay. The hyphy movement started in Oakland for one," E-40 told to SOHH.com. "So can't nobody from San Francisco be talking about that. I love Frisco, that ain't got nothing to do with the city of Frisco, but I'm not gonna affiliate that with these suckers, whoever these cats is."
Fonzarelli also took the opportunity to address Hyphy Inc.'s claims that he's not respected in the Bay Area.
"First of all, my respect in the Bay is to the extreme my dude. If the Bay didn't love me, I wouldn't be at 60,000 units just in the Bay area alone. The love is there. As far as street credibility, I got that. That's a plus. That's straight A's across the board. Don't get it twited," 40 explained. "Overall, the hyphy movement, I helped birth that thang, mang. I ain't the one who made it up. All I do is endorse it, smell me. Like I said, I was on the first song 'Hyphy.' I got the utmost respect for Mac Dre, Keak Da Sneak and the Federation and whoever else is about the hyphy movement, it's all gravy. At the same time, cats like me and [Too] Short all we're doing is trying to represent our soil. What I'm supposed to do, talk like I'm from New York, rap like I'm from New York. If I didn't say nothing about the hyphy. It'll be like 'he done went south. He won't say nothing about the hyphy.'"
"What have they done for the movement or whatever else," he added. "That's a hate group if anything. They're probably a rap group trying to get some exposure. 99 out of 100% gon love me. There's probably 1 percent out there that hate me cause they ain't on, bullshitting."
