The Game Announces Engagement Shocker!! (Back by Popular Demand)

Rapper THE GAME has announced his shock engagement to actress Valeisha Butterfield, confirming the happy couple will wed next March of 2007.

The CURTAINS hitmaker, real name JAYCEON TAYLOR, wanted to stage the wedding on the anniversary of his 22 March proposal but has since discovered that day doesn't fall on a weekend next year.

He tells urban magazine Sister 2 Sister, "March 22 of next year is a Wednesday, I think, or a Thursday." The rapper confesses he surprised the REMEMBER THE TITANS actress with a 19-carat engagement ring: "She had no idea." And in the article Butterfield admits she's still coming to terms with becoming the future Mrs Taylor.

Butterfield, whose father is Representative George K. 'G.K.' Butterfield Jr. (North Carolina) says, "I was just as surprised as my family and everybody was... I didn't pass out, but I buckled and he caught me." And Butterfield, a political science major, dismisses reports her new fiance is a ladies' man - because the couple had never even had sex before he proposed.She adds, "We never dated, that's the thing; we went from being friends to being engaged. We never had sex... We honestly did not have sex for the first time until after he proposed." The couple planned a secret engagement dinner for family and friends in The Game's native California, but the celebration didn't stay low-key for long.

Butterfield explains, "When I walked in LIL' JON was there, HILARY DUFF was there... and I thought it was going to be a small, private thing. But we had a good time."

Juvenile Sued Over "Fradulent" Tickets

Rapper JUVENILE has been named in a lawsuit filed by angry fans who claim they were charged twice the original price to enter a VIP area at a concert in Dayton, Ohio. The legal papers, filed in Montgomery County Court, claim fans originally paid $100 in advance to enter the exclusive area, but were allegedly told they had to pay another $100 when they tried the gain access. Juvenile is named alongside nightclub The Foundry, radio station Hot 102.9 FM and clothing store Hip-Hop Culture in the suit.

Lupe Fiasco, Trae Featured On Madden 07's Game Soundtrack

While EA Sports gears up for the release of their '07 addition of Madden NFL football game, the company has revealed the tracklisting for the game, which features 35 original songs.

"Year after year, the music selected for inclusion in EA's smash hit football series invariably becomes the soundtrack of the football season, moving beyond the game to turn up in football stadiums and on live TV broadcasts," Steve Schnur, a marketing rep from EA, said via a press release. "The Madden NFL Football franchise is recognized across North America as a driving force behind break-out bands...this year EA does it again."
Lupe Fiasco, Trae, Watts native Glasses Malone and Aftermath signee Bishop Lamont are among the hip-hop songs chosen for the soundtrack, alongside tracks from rock bands like AFI, Audioslave and Dave Navarro's band The Panic Channel to name a few.

Like last year, hip-hop production duo Da Riffs remixed nearly a dozen original NFL Films music pieces, which will be showcased throughout the menus and in gameplay.

Wu-Tang Clan's Masta Killa Reps For "Brooklyn" On New Album

Wu-Tang Clan's Masta Killa is gearing up for the release of his sophomore album titled Made In Brooklyn.

Due this August, the album features guest spots from each member of the Wu-Tang Clan and production from MF Doom, Pete Rock and Bronze Nazareth, among others.

"It's basically the same formula as No Said Date, but with more of a Brooklyn swagger," said Killa via a statement. "It's a piece of me, where I come from and a dedication to the MCs, producers and the people from the neighborhood."

Masta Killa's Made In Brooklyn is due August 8.

Busta Rhymes and LeBron James Show Off Their "Unique Whips"

Speed TV's popular "Unique Whips" show will be returning for a third season next year and will boast appearances from Busta Rhymes, NBA superstar LeBron James and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick.

The show, hosted by Will Castro, owner of Unique Autosports in New York, is renowned for customizing cars for standout athletes and celebrities in the music and fashion industry.

The prior two seasons of the show have featured customization of cars owned by Jadakiss and Marcus Camby of the Denver Nuggets.

"Next season, we're bringing the heat," Castro said via a statement. "The whips coming out of Unique will be hot and Hollywood will be stepping up in a big way ... Rodeo Drive will be pushing up on Holbrook, N.Y. We got it all covered this year. We're hitting music, movies, sports, literature, fashion and we'll be doing a little more traveling."

The third season of "Unique Whips" will also include custom work on vehicles owned by Lindsay Lohan, Pam Anderson, Marc Ecko and six Dodge Chargers for the new John Singleton independent movie "Illegal Tender," set to be filmed in Puerto Rico.

"John called because he had heard we were the shop to be with on the East Coast," stated Castro. "He needed a Unique Autosports look for the main character's whip in his new movie. After seeing the first whip, he knew he made the right move and completed the order for the other five."

The third season of "Unique Whips" will premiere in February 2007.

Dallas Austin Arrested In Dubai For Drugs

Revered R&B and Hip-Hop producer Dallas Austin has been detained in a Dubai prison for allegedly transporting illegal drugs into the Arab country.

According to the New York Daily News, the producer was traveling to model Naomi Campbell's birthday party last month when he was incarcerated.

The report did not indicate what illicit drugs the producer was accused of holding.

Austin has crafted beats for the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Brandy, TLC, Aretha Franklin, the Indigo Girls and Boyz II Men, Fishbone and owns Rowdy Records.

Campbell's celebration was held over the course of three-days at the Burj Al Arab hotel. Dubai has very little tolerance for illicit drugs.

According to the Dubai government's official website, penalties for possession, use or trafficking of illegal substances can result in jail sentences for the offender.

In extreme cases, the death sentence for convicted drug traffickers is imposed, while possession of small quantities of various drugs can result in length jail sentences.

Representatives for Austin weren't available for comment at press time.

Details Emerge on Upcoming J Dilla Album

Earlier this year BBE Records announced that producer Jay Dee had several albums in the works before his untimely passing, including his third solo LP, The Shining, which is finally being released on Aug. 22.

The 32-year-old producer (born James Yancey) completed most of The Shining before he passed away, and his mother Maureen Yancey and frequent collaborator Karriem Riggins oversaw the LP’s final touches.

The tracklist is as follows:

5) Baby (feat. Madlib and Guilty Simpson)

There is still no release date on J Dilla’s other posthumous album, Jay Love Japan, which is scheduled to drop sometime this year on Operation Unknown Records.

Jay Dee, known for producing classic tracks including Common’s “The Light” and De La Soul’s “Stakes Is High,” passed away in February from lupus and blood-related complications.

His production work is also featured on Busta Rhymes’ latest album, The Big Bang, and Ghostface Killah’s LP, Fishscale.

ROOTS’ ?UESTLOVE WORRIED ABOUT JAY-Z GIG: Drummer/musical director concerned with Hov’s memory and Foxy Brown’s hearing.

As musical director for Jay-Z’s Radio City Music Hall performance of his “Reasonable Doubt” album Sunday, Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson of the Roots has concerns that the retired rapper may need to brush up on some of his lyrics, considering the words are all 10 years old.

"Unless you do [the songs] night after night, there's a chance you could forget," Thompson told MTV. "In [Jay's] case, I'm suggesting — I've seen Springsteen do it, R.E.M. do it, Bowie do it — I'm suggesting that [there] be a teleprompter. There are too many words in '22 Two's' [and] 'Regrets.' Right now he's playing the album over and over again, learning words. He says he's gonna know everything.”

?uest says even the best artists forget their most classic lyrics. He adds: "Nas forgot 'The World Is Yours' [during our recent show at Radio City]. …I've been in jam sessions with Prince and we've started songs of his that were our life staples and he was like, 'I forgot those lyrics.' Me and D'Angelo played 'The Ballad of Dorothy Parker' and [Prince] forgot the bridge. That's one of the greatest bridges in modern black music. How do you forget the bridge to 'Ballad of Dorothy Parker'? We did 'Liquid Swords' with GZA last week in L.A. and he was like, 'I only know the first verse.'"

Another concern is the song, “Ain’t No Ni**a,” a duet with Foxy Brown who is now suffering from severe hearing loss. Also, the song "Bring It On" features Jay-Z's estranged friends Jaz-O and Sauce Money. Who will cover their verses?

"'Bring It On' [has] my favorite [DJ] Premier loop," Thompson told MTV, adding it’s the record he’s most looking forward to performing. "The problem is it's a posse cut. [Who knows what's going on with] Jaz-O and Sauce Money. I don't want to cut one verse of that song. That is my favorite song on ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ I gotta figure out a way to prolong it. Make [Jay] bust a second verse or something.”

For the Notorious B.I.G. duet "Brooklyn's Finest," Thompson says they'll have a "slight trick."

"This show, I will say that this is gonna be a challenge," he continued. "It's sort of like doing a magic trick when you have to destroy a building and [then] that building is demolished. You've got one shot. We're gonna do a very different approach. Yes, we're gonna do ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ But the question is, how are we gonna do it? I got my work cut out [for me]."

Kanye West and Young Jeezy Top Nominations At Billboard Awards

Kanye West and Young Jeezy have stepped out as the most nominated rappers for the 7th annual Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, being held this September.

Kanye West earned seven nominations for this year's awards, while Jeezy scored four, including a shot at Best Rap Album for Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101, and a nod in the Best Male R&B/Hip-Hop Artist category where he will face off against West, T.I. and this year's most nominated artist Jamie Foxx. Foxx topped the list of nominees, with mentions in eight categories, closely followed by Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey who will go head to head against each other for all seven of their nominations.

"It's an honor to be nominated for this R&B award. Billboard is a true testament to the fans and people out there and I truly appreciate all the love and support," Foxx told Billboard.com.

The Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards will close out Billboard's 7th annual R&B/Hip-Hop Conference, being held September 6-8 at Atlanta's Renaissance Waverly. The Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Awards honor the most popular albums, songs and artists as well as the top songwriters, producers and major/independent labels based on sales data and radio airplay information from Nielsen Soundscan and Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems.
